Artwork: SIDEWAYS AND DUCK
Materials: 16 mallard duck wings, 300 spare flank feathers, foam, wire mesh, glue
Wing: Open Mallard
Created for The Wing Assignment: May 2012

Shaun McGrath is Creative Director at Willis B Salons in London. WIth a history of making interesting wigs in the past, he has an affinity for combining his professional skills with hair, with his artistic ideas. Previous wigs have included a safety pin bob, and a paper plane crew cut.
His submission into the Wing Assignment is designed to blur the line between art and hair. The piece is a wearable wig, bringing the texture of the feathers together with hair pieces interspaced throughout the piece. But as well as being a wig, the piece is a sculpture, embodying a sense of grandeur and presence. The essence of nature within the genre of hair and fashion.
